The Wedge Soapbox!
Twenty years ago, the British Motor industry made one of the biggest mistakes in its history - discontinuing production of the Triumph TR7 and TR8 sportscars. After finally working out many of the problems, they pulled the plug rather than pausing production as was more wisely done with the Jaguar XJ-S. Today, far too many restorable examples, especially dropheads (convertibles) are being allowed to deteriorate and consequently scrapped. Are we going to make the same mistake that was previously made with: Jaguar XK's, XKE's, early Mustangs and Camaros and many others? Many of those were discarded, and how we regret that nowadays!
At Wedgeparts, we believe that the key to long term survival of Wedges is correct conversion to Rover V8 power, since if done properly it will enhance rather than detract from the value. That may seem like a daunting task, but in fact the cars were designed to have the Rover V8 engine from the start. To make matters even easier all Wedges with the small petrol cap, which includes all convertibles share an identical bodyshell, which means that all the TR8 parts simply bolt-on! Certainly such a project does not come cheaply, but consider the end result: A fully restored two seater convertible with reliable (American) V8 power for somewhere in the region of $12,000 - $15,000. A reliable daily driver can be built for $8000 - $10,000.
The TR7 convertible is one of the best bargains in the classic car convertible market. Restorable examples can be found for just a few hundred Dollars. However, do not delay because prices are on the rise! The TR7 drophead (convertible) is destined to become a valuable collectors item in the near future.

Important Pricing Information

The Dollar has lost approximately forty (40) cents against the Pound in the past two years. This means that a part that cost us $1.45 in early 2002 now costs approx. $1.85 and the trend appears to be upward. Freight costs have also risen by the same amount since we are billed for freight in the UK. This means that we are forced to review prices with every stock order. Where a discrepancy exists between our online database and our inventory highlights pages, the database shall be taken as the official price.
